The Altex Pipeline System pioneers the most direct route
Altex Energy Ltd. (Altex) is an Alberta-based private company developing a technologically
advanced heavy oil/bitumen pipeline system directly from northern Alberta to the U.S.
Gulf Coast. The U.S. Gulf Coast (USGC) is the largest heavy oil refining market in the
world. Altex intends to design, construct, own and operate the Altex Pipeline System, along
a direct route to the USGC.
The Altex Pipeline System will employ uniquely developed intellectual property, specifically,
its patent pending Thermo-LEVR™ and BIRDA™ technologies, to achieve the lowest
total transport
cost for its contracted shippers. This will provide Altex shippers with a significant competitive
advantage when compared to existing and planned North American heavy oil pipeline systems.
The Altex Pipeline System will complement and enhance the value of scheduled capital investments
in Alberta's growing
oil sands production and
upgrading infrastructure. Altex will forge the
direct link to strategically significant markets in the USGC for the bitumen supply that will
be surplus to the capacity of existing and planned Alberta bitumen
upgraders.
